A Note From Moreen

The first question about Going Forward: Downsizing, Moving and Settling In is always “Why did you write this book?”

The answer is simple. There are two reasons:

1. We’re on the cusp of Baby Boomers reaching retirement age. More than ever, the 50-somethings and 60-sometnings are considering their future housing needs. Children have left the nest for their own homes and the house is now too big for parents, health issues may surface, they may want to travel more without the responsibilities of a large home, or they are tired of maintaining it.

As we move forward in age, we’re a healthier bunch than ever before. We’re more mobile, with varied interests and the ability to travel. A large home becomes an encumbrance and there are choices of smaller places available that are suitable for a new lifestyle.

2. We may simply want more space in our current homes, without a move on the agenda. We’ve realized we have more “stuff” than comfortably fits, or we realize our taste in decor has changed, so we decide it’s time to let some of it go.

Going Forward: Downsizing, Moving and Settling In is a good read for anyone who is considering downsizing and looking for guidance.
